What it is

VentureStrat’s investor matching compares your startup with more than 120,000 investors and shows you the ones whose focus fits your round.

You describe your company once during onboarding. Matching then does the first pass most founders do by hand in a spreadsheet, so you start from a shortlist worth reading rather than a database worth scrolling.

Who it's for

It is for founders who don’t yet know which investors to pitch.

If you already have a target list, the investor database and its filters will serve you better. Matching earns its place when you are starting cold, or raising in a new market where you don’t know the local investors.

How it works

Matching starts from your company profile. Your sector decides which investors can match at all, and your fundraising round decides how they are ranked. Where you are based moves investors up the list but never removes anyone, because many of the best fits for a startup sit in another country.

Matching only needs your sector and your fundraising round, so you see matches as soon as onboarding is done. The free Fundraising Readiness Assessment is separate. It tells you what to fix before you send a single email and gives you its own recommended shortlist. From your matches you add investors to your pipeline and move straight into outreach.

How founders use it

Most founders treat their matches as a starting list, not a final one.

Read the profiles and cut anyone who clearly doesn’t fit before you add the rest to your pipeline. Your first replies will tell you more about who to pitch next than any algorithm can.

Limits and honesty

A match means an investor’s stated focus fits your company. It does not mean they are investing right now.

Funds pause between raises and partners move on, and our data refreshes monthly, so some matches will be out of date by the time you read them. Matching also works from what investors say publicly, so it cannot see the private preferences that decide most deals. Treat a match as a reason to look closer, not a reason to expect a yes.

Questions

Do I need to take the readiness assessment to get matches?
No. Matches appear as soon as you have added your sector and fundraising round during onboarding. The assessment is free and worth doing, but it works alongside matching rather than changing it.
Does adding a match use my monthly allowance?
Yes. Adding an investor from your matches counts toward your monthly investors added allowance, the same as adding one from the database. That is 125 on Starter, 500 on Pro and 1,000 on Scale.
Why am I seeing investors outside my country?
Location ranks your matches but never excludes them. Many investors back companies far from where they are based, and filtering on country alone would hide most of the funds worth pitching.
